Dear Neighbor,
My name is Steven Puvogel and I am running to
represent you on our city council. Aberdeen is a
beautiful city with great people, and potential for so
much more. Of course, we are not without our
challenges these days including difficult budgets,
businesses closing or relocating, an image in need
of improvement, and a need to keep our community
safe and enriching. Effectively tackling these issues
will require creativity and hard work. I am excited to
join our council when the time for action is now. With
your vote, we can take action on things that make a
difference to our city, including:
Making Aberdeen More Business Friendly
We have an authentic, marketable city, that has visitors, but we need to give them
more reasons to stop. Better parking, effective advertising, and more unique
businesses. Our city's role includes making our municipal B&O tax, among the very
highest in the state, more equitable with other cities, facilitate growth in our core
business areas, and learn from what successful cities are doing.
Boosting Community Pride
Our city has a lot to be proud of, with talented kids that have changed the world
throughout the years, architecture that stands the test of time, and a beautiful
natural surrounding. Unfortunately, our image has taken a beating in recent
years. It is up to us to remind ourselves, as well as the outside world, how great
our city is, and improve upon it. A city tree plan, teen advisory board, and
homegrown celebrations will go a long way. We can also ensure that our police
and fire departments, among the very best, keep the tools they need to keep our
community safe.
Letting Voters Decide What Our City
Government Looks Like
Only two cities in our state have city councils with TWELVE members. Aberdeen
and Hoquiam. While there is no need to conform with other cities, the option
should be put to the voters to decide if our council could operate more efficiently
with seven members. Given the opportunity to place the issue before voters, the
council, led by our incumbent, voted to decide for you. I am confident with your
vote, we can get this on the ballot for you to decide.
Of course, these are just a few of the things we can do to improve our city. Many
more issues will come up throughout the term, and it is up to the council to
respond to each issue thoughtfully, respectfully and creatively. I promise to do
just that. If you have any questions, comments or input, please feel free to email
me at ward4@puvogel.net or call me at 612-0412. And of course, I would
appreciate your vote.
Thank you very much,
Vote Steven Puvogel this November 3rd!
